Holland international Jonathan de Guzman wants to stay at Swansea

Jonathan de Guzman: Wants to stay at Swansea after first competitive Holland app

The 25-year-old, who is on a season-long loan at Swansea from Villarreal, made his international debut for Holland against Italy in a friendly last month.

However, he was also still eligible to represent the country of his birth Canada until he was selected to start Friday's 2014 World Cup qualifier against Estonia.

De Guzman confirmed his older brother Julian wanted him to represent Canada, but he is happy with his decision to play international football for Holland.

"My brother Julian put some pressure on me and stated that he would love to play with me," De Guzman told reporters. "But for me it was always clear that I would choose the Netherlands.

"The Oranje is world class and, if you want to battle in a big tournament, that is only possible with the Netherlands."

De Guzman has suggested a lack of stability at club level delayed his debut for Holland and he is keen to ensure he stays with Swansea beyond this season.

He added: "Due to my foot injury, and the many changes of clubs, I was off the radar. But it was worth waiting for.

"I don't want to wander again. I hope I can bind myself for a couple of seasons at one place and, if it's up to me, that would be at Swansea."
