Laudrup denied reports emerging from Spain that Swansea had bid 6million for his services in January but confirmed the 24-year-old was on his radar.
Botia, who has been part of Spain's senior squad but is yet to be capped, only joined Sevilla from Sporting Gijon last summer.
"He is a good player, but there are a lot of good players in that position," Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post.
"He may be on a list but it's a long list.
"We have been linked with three or four players already, and this is only the beginning.
"There will be a lot of rumours with the transfer window coming up."
