Samba glad to stay at QPR

Samba: Did not want to move to Russia

Samba, 28, moved back to the Premier League in January but was the subject of a 14million transfer offer from a domestic rival of his former club Anzhi Makhachkala.

The deal would have seen Rangers make an immediate 1.5million profit, however, the Congolese defender is more than happy to remain in England with his family.

"All the money in the world cannot make you happy if you don't have your family with you," said Samba.

"I came back to be with my family. Life needs to have both sides - enjoy your football and have your loved ones close to you.

"I have no plans to go back to Russia."

QPR currently lie bottom of the league and four points adrift of safety but will be boosted by the news of the influential defender's stay and look to close the gap on the teams above.

"I'm a Rangers player and I will give 100 per cent to this club," Samba added.

"People have said to me if Rangers go down it could be a springboard to another move. Maybe that's true but I don't think like that."
